My contribution to Communicable Dis-Ease is an expressively rendered, gestural rhinoceros. The impetus for the image came from a play by Eugene Ionesco called, succinctly "Rhinoceros." The play is a part of the Theater of the Absurd Cannon and depicts a provincial french town where everyone except one impartial and increasingly horrified observer turns into rhinoceros. The play, while ridiculous, is essentially a commentary on the dangers of group-think, morality and conformity, communicable diseases all.
